Open'er was one hell of an experience! We've never played for such an amazing crowd before!!! My deep thanks to you for this and from my band as well and we will remember you forever and ever and we only hope that you come back one day to some other gig of ours!

One down-side though - I promised that you'll see us live on the festival website, but it didn't happen. Some bad luck :(

June 30 2010 - OPEN'ER Live Streaming and free "Fear Of Flying"

If you can't make it to the Open'er Festival this year, you can watch us on the internet! Festival website www.opener.pl will be streaming videos live or minutes after the show is over. We're playing on Saturday, July 3rd at 19:00.

You can now also download the song "Fear Of Flying" for free at uwolnijmuzyke.pl.



June 27 2010 - OPEN'ER!!

Thank you everyone in Luckenwalde, Berlin, Warszawa and Poznań! All 4 june shows were amazing while being so different - we had a blast!

Here's a little reminder about our Open'er gig, since we very much look forward to it: Julia Marcell with band @ Open'er Festival, July 3rd, 19:00, Tent Stage! (full festival lineup)

And we have some touring in Poland planned for Autumn, and some in Germany as well, more news soonish!

May 13 2010 - We're playing OPEN'ER FESTIVAL 2010!

Still waiting for the exact dates to be confirmed, but you'll find us on the tent stage. Open'er Festival this year will happen on 1-4 July in Gdynia Kosakowo Airfield.

Apr 30 2010 - The Spinning Wheel

Last minute news about the show in Haldern - I just found out I'll be opening for Langhorne Slim once again, but this time on May 4th in Haldern Pop Bar. Come by if you're around!




Michiru's song "The Spinning Wheel", which I had the pleasure to sing and write the lyrics to, is now available to listen on youtube. Also, as you can see above, one of the japanese fans created a beautiful manga-style image inspired by the song: take a look and here!

Feb 11 2010 - Julia Marcell @ SXSW! (updated)



Ladies and Gentlemen!
I can still hardly believe it myself, but it looks like we're playing the famous SXSW this year! It's gonna be our very first show in the USA, so we're triple excited! We've been invited by the nice people from One Little Indian Records to be a part of their showcase. It's on Thursday, 18th March 2010 in Victorian Room at The Driskill (604 Brazos Street, Austin, TX). We play at 9pm (changed from 10pm), but the whole showcase starts at 8pm and it features one awesome lineup (as you can see on the picture above).

UPDATE: All confirmed - our second show at SXSW will take place on the 20th March, at 11a.m. at The Cedar Street Courtyard. It will be a Polish Showcase organized by Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

So.
If you're in Austin for South By Southwest, come and see us!

Nov 27 2009 - And when you write to Santa...
Old Time Radio recorded a wonderful Christmas album. There's very little records like that out there... actually no other comes to my mind at the moment. The thing is - the band wrote all the songs themselves. For a guitar, voices, percussion and with humor (the album starts with "I hate Christmas"). Lovely artwork, wonderful, warm atmosphere, a little lo-fi sound and a lot of heart.



I had a chance to sing with them on "Christmas With You". You can listen to this and other songs on the Old Time Radio's myspace.

Nov 27 2009 - After the shows
Many thanks to everyone who showed up on our gigs in Sopot, Warsaw and Olsztyn! We had a great time playing and every evening was a special one. We plan to repeat that at the beginning of 2010, along with some shows outside Poland. See you soon.

Nov 10 2009 - Michiru's album an Julia's guest appearance on it.
During my stay in Japan I had a great pleasure to work with Michiru - a wonderful young composer based in Tokyo. We played a show together, but we also worked on some songs which Michiru wrote and arranged and invited me to write lyrics for and sing. Now I am happy to announce that the fruits of this collaboration will see the light of the day on Michiru's first Album "World's End Village"!



"World's End Village" will be released on 5th of December in Japan and then in the rest of the world in 2010.

The album is a beautiful musical journey, filled with Michiru's original songs with orchestral arrangements based around piano, strings, guitar and drums. It has been produced by Keiko Shinozaki.
The songs I wrote the lyrics for and sing are called "The Thief - Nusubito-" and "The Spinning Wheel". You can also hear me on "World’s End Village/Rites of Beginning".
